One afternoon Tigger said to Roo,
“Let’s play hide and seek.”
“But you always find me,” Roo complained. “I never
win.”
“Please?” begged Tigger.
“Oh, all right,” Roo answered. “I’ll try one more
time. You be It first.”
As Tigger counted to one hundred, Roo looked for a
hiding place. And as Tigger counted to eighty-eight, Roo found the perfect
hiding place – a hollow log! He quickly snuggled down inside it.
Tigger looked and looked for Roo. He looked all the way
up until teatime!
“Okay, buddy-boy!” he called. “You can come out now! I
can’t find you!”
But no Roo appeared.
Soon Tigger had everyone in the Hundred-Acre Wood
looking for Roo.
Pooh looked in his cupboards.
Piglet looked under the bed.
Tigger and Rabbit looked far and wide.
Finally they turned to Christopher Robin.
It was Christopher Robin who found Roo at last, in the
hollow log where he’d fallen asleep.
Roo gave a huge yawn. “See, Tigger?” he said. “You
found me! You always win.”
“Not this time, buddy-boy,” Tigger laughed. “This
time, you won!”
